"God Bless Madison"

In the span of seven days, in celebration of Catholic Schools Wee, from Jan. 27 through Feb. 2, all 430 students at Madison's St. Vincent Martyr School at 26 Green Village Rd painted a nine-foot high mural in their school hallway, depicting the church and rectory, the Blessed Mother, and scenes of historic downtown Madison... St. Vincent's entire student body was guided through the process of first outlining and then painting the mural by artist and illustrator, Caren Frost Olmsted... under the auspices of the Arts Council of the Morris Area.

...While painting for up to 30 minutes at a time, these enthusiastic students learned that "we are all artists, no matter our skill level." They also learned that their seemingly small brushstrokes could contribute greatly to the overall large, visually stunning mural... "This has been a remarkable transformation. More and more the mural came to life. The kids would look at it and say 'WOW.' It was a beautiful experience, [Principal] Gagnon said. "It was also a community effort with students, teachers and parents."

During her lifetime, Marguerite "Marge" Goryeb was instrumental in the creation of the Goryeb Children's Hospital and in providing support to ensure its continued success. The legacy of this beloved benefactor lives on through a generous bequest she left to the facility that bears her name... Visitors to the children's hospital will be subtly reminded of Mrs. Goryeb as they enter the lobby. A mural was commissioned by Lois Gagnon, who sought to honor her dear friend. The colorful spread by artist Caren Frost Olmsted, depicts a children's playground with Mrs. Goryeb and her husband, Joseph, sitting off to the side on a park bench with their yellow Labrador, Pita...

"Bernards Township 250th Anniversary: Mural at Oak Street School"

Students at Oak Street School participated in the creation of a large-scale mural celebrating Bernards Township's long and colorful history. This year also marks the 70th anniversary of the school. The mural was designed by local artist and school parent, Caren Frost Olmsted and was unveiled in March.

Local artist Caren Frost Olmsted, whose son Benjamin is a third-grader, said she started work in January on the school-wide project celebrating the school's 70th anniversary and the township's 250th.

MUSICAL: 'Sounds Around Town' draws crowds to B'ville

..."Bernardsville, when I was growing up here, didn't have fun things like this," said Basking Ridge resident Caren Frost Olmsted, a 1992 graduate Bernards High School graduate and artist who helped kids with the mural painting in the parking lot. "It's nice to see this happening." ... Caren Frost Olmsted and her son, Matthew, of Basking Ridge create a black and white mural for other children to color in the parking lot of the Bernardsville Centre during the family-oriented celebration Friday evening.

Asheville- Caren Frost Olmsted is an artist whose business focuses on painting murals and faux finishes. But in pursuit of her art, she’s had to learn how to string and tune a guitar, despite the fact that she doesn’t play one. Why? Because she’s started painting guitars and other instruments, creating what she calls playable works of art.
